Clare Brophy, Handicare UK’s Managing Director, will now lead Handicare’s commercial strategy for stairlifts outside North America, responsible for growing the Group’s market share in Europe and Asia.

Currently operating in Sweden, the UK, Norway, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and France, the Group will look to expand on its healthy sales of stairlifts enjoyed in Europe in 2017.

According to the company, the European growth was a result of a more professional sales effort and increased cross-sales of products through its distribution network.

With the growth in the stairlift market predicted at one to three percent and the size of the market estimated at £385 million, Handicare will look to build on its current market share of around 20 to 25 percent.

The change in role will also see Clare join the Group’s management team and report directly to the company’s CEO, Asbjorn Eskild.

“Our ambition is to become the leading player in Accessibility worldwide and Clare’s appointment will support our strategy and help us achieve our financial objectives. She has many years of experience from Handicare and has worked actively with the sales excellence platform which will be central as we move forward,” commented Asbjorn.

In her new role, Clare will focus on achieving organic growth from existing and new customers, new markets and new products and solutions. Additionally, according to the company, she will oversee the creation of a more efficient, commercial global organisation, the implementation of Group-wide commercial initiatives and geographic expansion including expanded dealer networks.

Having worked with Handicare since 2010 when her retail company, Companion Stairlifts, was acquired by the Group, Clare became a Handicare director. In July 2017, she became the UK’s managing director, responsible for all the Group’s UK activities including dealer and government sales, moving, handling & bathing solutions, as well as customer service and field service.

Handicare offers a range of products such as stairlifts, lifting and repositioning aids and medical equipment.
