Ruth Ingledew

Following the buyout of accessible shower and kitchen solutions provider AKW in March of this year, the company has appointed Nick Parsons as Group CEO and Ruth Ingledew as Managing Director.

Headquartered in Braddan, AKW was acquired on the 14th of March by funds managed by PennantPark Investment Advisers, with the investment company partnering with Nick Parsons, the former CEO of AKW until 2011.

The company says that Nick will bring his many years of experience managing businesses and a wealth of industry and core customer links within the mobility sector to AKW. In March, he confirmed plans to re-focus the company’s strategy, confirming that several new, complementary products will be introduced in 2018.

Having also worked for AKW until 2012 as the Marketing Director, Ruth went on to spend six years as CEO of myaware, a UK charity focusing on the condition of myasthenia.

Commenting on the appointment, Ruth said: “I am very pleased to be back at AKW and also to be playing a part in the next stage of the company’s development as a leading provider of accessible bathroom, kitchen and daily living products.”

As Managing Director of AKW, Ruth will be looking to continue to develop on the company’s brand in the mobility sector.

“There are many short and long-term growth opportunities that we are exploring at present and we will of course continue to offer our unparalleled service and product offering to customers moving forwards,” she added.

Working with healthcare professionals, care homes, residential housing and research institutions to develop its ranges, AKW distributes in both continental Europe and the USA.
